IAIP Program Certification (IAIP-PC) recognizes educational programs that meet rigorous standards for training practitioners and scholars in Islamic Psychology – integrating Islamic scholarship with psychological science and clinical practice.

IAIP certifies degree-granting academic programs, professional training programs, and hybrid programs that combine both.

IAIP Program Certification (IAIP-PC) connects your institution to a global network of scholars, certified programs, practitioners, and institutions advancing excellence in Islamic Psychology.
Legal registration, adequate resources, and financial stability. Operational history by program type:
• Type A: Minimum 2 years delivering mental health or Islamic studies education (or 1 year with provisional status)
• Type B: Minimum 1 year delivering training in mental health, Islamic counseling, or related services
• Hybrid: Reviewed against both Type A and Type B requirements
Note: Type B programs operated by clinical practices registered primarily as service providers remain eligible provided they demonstrate structured training delivery.
Demonstrated coverage of five IAIP competency domains:
Faculty body collectively demonstrates expertise in Islamic scholarship and psychological or clinical disciplines.
Individual instructors may specialize in one domain.
Professional ethics, learner protection, spiritual abuse prevention protocols, and grievance procedures.

Submit initial inquiry form with basic program information. IAIP confirms eligibility and provides application materials.
Review IAIP five core standards: Institutional Eligibility, Curriculum Coverage, Faculty Qualifications, Practicum and Assessment, and Ethical Framework.

Eligibility depends on program type:
Type A (Academic): Minimum 2 years operational history in mental health or Islamic studies education (or 1 year with provisional certification status).
Type B (Professional Training): Minimum 1 year delivering training in mental health, Islamic counseling, or related services.
All programs need at least one cohort of graduates, or a current cohort in its final stage for newer programs.
Program certification is open to all qualifying institutions. IAIP membership provides additional benefits but is not required for certification.

No. Program certification is based on a self-study report, documentation review, and virtual site visit – not an exam.
The complete process typically takes 4–6 months:
Expression of Interest: ~2 weeks
Self-Study Report: 8–12 weeks
Document Review: 4–6 weeks
Site Visit (if applicable) + Decision: 2–4 weeks
Timeline depends on application completeness and scheduling.
IAIP recognizes three program types:
Type A (Academic): Degree-granting programs (Master’s, Doctorate, Diploma, PGCert) at universities. 400+ contact hours. No practicum required.
Type B (Professional Training): Certificate/diploma programs at training institutes or clinical settings. 150+ contact hours. 50+ hours supervised practice.
Hybrid (Academic + Professional): Programs combining academic credentials with practitioner training. 400+ contact hours. 150+ hours supervised practice.
Programs combining both are reviewed against Type A and Type B standards as appropriate.
The faculty body collectively must demonstrate expertise in both Islamic scholarship and psychological or clinical disciplines.
Individual instructors may specialize in one domain. IAIP does not mandate minimum faculty headcounts.

Full Certification is valid for 3 years. Provisional Certification is valid for 2 years (programs must achieve Full Certification within that period).
Certified programs submit annual reports and undergo full re-evaluation every 3 years. Programs demonstrating continuous improvement may qualify for expedited renewal.
Yes. Institutions may appeal certification decisions within 30 days of notification. Appeals are reviewed by a separate panel. Grounds for appeal include procedural errors or new evidence not available during the initial review.
